Dr. Richard Tyrell is a double board-certified plastic surgeon known for his expertise in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the head and neck. His approach centers on individualized patient care, fostering collaborative relationships with all of his patients to meet their specific goals.
Dr. Tyrell is deeply committed to advancing his field through clinical research, working to both improve surgical techniques and patient outcomes. Along with Dr. Eva Dentcheva, he co-established the microsurgery program at the Sentara Health System in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, and headed the craniofacial curriculum in the EVMS integrated plastic surgery residency, teaching and shaping the next generation of surgeons. His specialized training in craniofacial surgery in Utah underscores his commitment to perfecting his surgical expertise.
After earning his medical degree from Ross University, Dr. Tyrell completed a General Surgery Residency at Hofstra University. He then went on to complete a Plastic Surgery Residency at Temple University and a Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Utah. During his plastic surgery training, he was selected as administrative chief and achieved the highest plastic surgery examination score in the program for all three years.
Dr. Tyrell belongs to a number of highly regarded societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Aesthetic Society, The American College of Surgeons, and AO Foundation CMF.
Dr. Tyrell enjoys time outdoors, especially when hiking or snowboarding. You can also find him experimenting with various tech devices, like 3D printing new designs. He is excited to get started with Rivé and looks forward to providing the Reno community with exceptional, high-quality care.
